“OBR CTM” and “SATIM” Announce Strategic Partnership to Enhance Maritime Situational Awareness in the Baltic Sea

Ośrodek Badawczo-Rozwojowy Centrum Techniki Morskiej S.A. (OBR CTM) and SATIM Monitoring Satelitarny sp. z o.o. have announced a strategic partnership that is focused on bringing a more complete and reliable maritime picture for Polish Ministry of Defense end users and international partners.

OBR CTM is a member of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) and a leading Polish defense technology company specializing in naval systems and maritime domain awareness. It delivers the Digital Baltic platform — a comprehensive solution for monitoring activity across the Baltic Sea.Through this partnership, SATIM, a Polish defense-tech startup pioneering AI-based analysis of satellite Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery, will focus on integrating its advanced detection and classification software OREC into Digital Baltic.By fusing Digital Baltic’s multi-sensor data environment with SATIM’s automated analysis of satellite radar imagery, the joint solution will deliver actionable insights based on the situation in the Baltic Sea.

“Digital Baltic was designed to give our customers a decisive advantage in maritime awareness by integrating diverse sources of information into one coherent picture. The partnership with SATIM allows us to add a unique space-based capability: automatic object detection from radar satellites. With MikroSAR satellites about to become operational, this integration will be a game-changer for our end users in the Polish MoD and will further increase the export potential of Digital Baltic”, said Marcin Wiśniewski, CEO of OBR CTM

The timing of this partnership aligns with the Polish MoD’s MikroSAR mission, expected to begin delivering national SAR satellite imagery in Q4 2025. These new space-based data streams will provide a valuable source of input for the Digital Baltic platform, while SATIM’s role will be to transform this raw radar data into actionable information on vessels and maritime activities.

“We are proud to join forces with OBR CTM, a true leader in naval and maritime defense technologies. SATIM’s OREC software will transform SAR imagery from MikroSAR and other constellations into actionable insights, strengthening Digital Baltic’s operational value and reducing reaction times in various situations. This cooperation shows how Polish technologies can jointly deliver world-class solutions, not only for national defense, but also for allied and international partners”, said Jacek Strzelczyk, CEO of SATIM

Background on the Digital Baltic Platform

OBR CTM’s Digital Baltic is a modern, integrated maritime domain awareness system designed to provide decision-makers with a unified operational picture of the Baltic Sea. The platform aggregates and fuses information from multiple sources — including coastal radars, AIS, EO/IR sensors, and open-source feeds — to support situational awareness, security operations, and defense missions. By integrating with SATIM’s AI analytics, Digital Baltic will extend its reach into the satellite domain, making it one of the most advanced regional solutions for maritime monitoring.

Background on SATIM’s OREC Software

SATIM’s flagship product, OREC (Object Recognition), is the world’s first commercial software capable of fast, automated detection and classification of objects, including vessels, aircraft, and vehicles, on SAR satellite imagery. Leveraging a unique database of radar signatures and internally developed AI models fine-tuned with real data, OREC transforms complex radar images into operational intelligence. SATIM’s software works across all SAR constellations, making it a universal tool for defense and security customers.
