Brazilian defense giant Embraer presented the first C-390 Millennium for the Uzbekistan Air Force on Friday. Uzbekistan is the first country in Central Asia to procure the aircraft.

“Combining versatility, advanced technology, and high operational availability, the C-390 will support transport and humanitarian missions while strengthening Uzbekistan’s airlift capabilities and advancing the modernization of its air force,” the company’s statement said.

Uzbekistan was initially revealed as a customer of the C-390 in February, joining a growing list of buyers that includes Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, South Korea, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Slovakia, and Lithuania.

Reportedly, the Uzbekistan Air Force will primarily use the C-390 for transport and humanitarian missions as Tashkent modernizes its airlift capabilities. The twin-engine jet transport can carry payloads of up to 26 tons, fly at speeds of up to 470 knots, and operate from unpaved or temporary runways. The aircraft is capable of missions including cargo and troop transport, airdrop, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian relief.
