Rheinmetall has secured its first order from Kuwait for the delivery of its Multi Ammunition Softkill System (MASS), which will equip eight vessels of the Kuwaiti Naval Forces.

The contract, booked in the second quarter of 2026, is valued at several tens of millions of euros, including a low double-digit million-euro order for the MASS systems and a high single-digit million-euro contract for Omnitrap decoy ammunition.

Under the agreement, Rheinmetall will also carry out system integration and verification activities. Deliveries began in the second quarter of 2026 and are scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2029.

The systems will be installed on Al Dorra-class guided-missile boats, which are being built by Abu Dhabi Ship Building for the Kuwaiti Navy under the country’s largest naval shipbuilding program in more than 15 years. The project is led by the UAE-based EDGE Group as the prime contractor.

In addition to the launchers, Kuwait has ordered the latest Omnitrap-ER decoy ammunition, featuring extended range and improved flight characteristics to counter modern radar- and infrared-guided missile threats.

The MASS system is designed to protect naval vessels from anti-ship missiles, laser-guided weapons and other threats by deploying multispectral decoys covering radar, infrared, ultraviolet, electro-optical and laser wavelengths.

Thanks to its modular architecture, the system can be integrated on a wide range of vessels, from offshore patrol ships to frigates, either as part of existing combat management systems or as a standalone solution.
