The French Army has begun fielding the R3 version of the Jaguar armored reconnaissance and combat vehicle, with 21 vehicles delivered as of September 4, according to France’s defense procurement agency DGA.

The DGA and French Army qualified the Jaguar R3 on April 8, 2026, while the Army authorized the new standard for operational use on July 20.

The R3 standard incorporates the Jaguar’s full planned technical and operational capabilities, including integration of the MMP medium-range missile. Existing Jaguars already delivered to the French Army are also being upgraded to the R3 standard, with the retrofit campaign scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027.

The Jaguar is part of France’s SCORPION modernization program and is produced by KNDS France in cooperation with Arquus and Thales.
